This is a fun summer read... for most of the book. Garcia is a pro at crafting, devious female characters that the reader loves to hate. In this mystery, we are introduced to Faith, a weather girl, with a devoted fan club worthy of a rock star. From the outside and too her fans, Faith is the perfect celebrity. To her coworkers she is a loathsome diva. Slowly, the reader unearths her true personality. What I enjoyed most was the glimpses into newsroom dynamics which from the outside appear so glamorous but for those working in the industry can be quite a grind. This is a genuinely enjoyable, easy summer read, perfect for curling up on a veranda and sipping a cool lemonade. I did not fully enjoy the ending or some of the characters decisions, but it was still a worthwhile ride.

One of Alex Finlay strengths is his solid pacing combined with characters that are appeal to a variety of readers. Parents Weekend is no exception. In this thriller, five students, some from exceedingly elite and powerful backgrounds, disappear right before meeting up with their parents for a celebratory "Parents Weekend". No one can determine what happened and the FBI is brought in to solve the mystery. What is most enjoyable and Finlay 's writing is the strong pacing and cliff hangers which end almost every chapter. A truly enjoyable, immersive summer read that will keep you piling up the clues... and guessing...right up until the end.

One of Alex Finlay"s strengths is his solid pacing and characters that are non offensive and relatable. The Parents Weekend is no exception, capitalizing on all of Finlay 's strengths. In this thriller five students, some from exceedingly elite backgrounds go missing before meeting up with their parents. The plot is full of twists and turns that will keep the reading turning the pages. One aspect I especially enjoy about Finlay 's writing is the mini cliffhangers at the end of every chapter. This novel has the thrill and glamour of peeking into the lives and foibles of the ultra rich and powerful combined with an engaging mystery that allows the reader to piece together clues. A fun summer read for fans of Mr. Finlay.
